The Smart Outdoor Lighting Alliance (SOLA) is your advocate for high quality, ecologically responsible, and community friendly public lighting to cities across the globe. We research the best options and educate decision makers on the value of preserving the environment, reducing glare, light trespass and circadian disruption while reducing energy and CO2 by up to 80%.
Many cities want to reduce their environmental footprint, but when it comes to streetlighting, they are not getting the unbiased information they need to make the best choices. SOLA publishes detailed case studies that show how smart cities are installing controls to maximize energy savings and using quality lighting design that puts the right amount of light precisely where and when it needs to be there. We meet with city officials, provide expert guidance and facilitate community engagement to ensure that the public is able to make its preferences known before mass conversions take place. We speak at conferences around the world to increase awareness.
We are the only all-volunteer, international non-profit focused on improving public lighting and we do it all for you, the public.
